How to Get Your Car Ready for Summer

It’s May, which means it’s time to start prepping your car for the rising temperatures. Summer’s heat and dry weather can be killer on your engine, so follow these quick tips on how to get your car ready for summer.

It’s always important to have a season-appropriate emergency kit in your car. Get a first aid kit, but also keep water, snacks that will keep for a while like granola bars, a battery-powered fan, and a throwaway cell phone in case yours dies.

Maintenance-wise, check on your air conditioner to make sure it’s still working—a bad air conditioner can indicate a larger problem, so if it’s not, see a technician—and check your coolant. Now is a great time to do a coolant flush, since you’ll want to go into the hot season with clean coolant that will efficiently keep your engine from overheating. Check your other fluids as well, including engine oil, transmission fluid, and brake fluid.

Replace your windshield wiper blades and get a car wash and wax. The wax will help protect your paint job from rain and dust.

With these tips, your summer is sure to be full of fun drives and great adventures.

Memorial Day Weekend Sales Event at Red Wing Chevrolet

Memorial Day is upon us so of course we want to have the best sale…ever! Stop out on Monday, we’ll be grilling from 11 – 1 and we’ll be open that day from 9 – 5. Have you driven a Silverado or the new Malibu yet? Stop out and take one for a spin!

While you’re here, we have not one, but two lovely Corvettes showing themselves off at our store. You can find the Z06 on our show floor and our Z51 out winking at the traffic in the front row outside.

Now is also a great time for us to thank all our Veterans, Active and Retired Military personnel. We appreciate all you do, have done and sacrificed for us. We are offering special Military pricing at Red Wing Chevrolet and we salute you!

Have you heard Hanisch Bakery and Coffee Shop was voted to have the best (viewers choice) donuts in the state of Minnesota? During our sale, choose a Weber Grill from Red Wing Ace Hardware or take a gift card worth $150 to Hanisch Bakery instead. Don’t need a grill and you’re watching what you eat? EVERYONE needs clothes so we’ve got the next best option for YOU. With your vehicle purchase (over $6000) you could choose a gift card to our local clothing store, Josephson’s instead. You will find something in your style there!
So stop out this weekend and see us (except for Sunday, no car sales on Sunday’s and just like you, we need the day off to spend with our family). Take a look at the ad and from what I hear, this Memorial Day there will be no rain so we’ll see you for that test drive real soon!

2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport Pricing and Details Announced

On Friday April 29, Chevy announced the pricing and a number of details about the 2017 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport, which is set to go on sale this summer. The Grand Sport coupe will start at $66,445, while the convertible will be priced at $70,445, not titling and other fees.

First released in 1963 and designed by the Corvette’s first engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, the Corvette Grand Sport is the purest racing form of the Corvette. The product marketing manager of the Corvette, Harlan Charles, said the new Grand Sport is “a worthy successor to the spirit of the originals,” given its higher degree of driver involvement and better capabilities on top of the Corvette’s formidable basis.

Chevy says the new Corvette Grand Sport will be able to go from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, and with its lightweight build, specially designed aerodynamics, and other features designed to improve handling, the Grand Sport will have an incredibly tight turn cornering capability. The Grand Sport will also be offered with the Z07 package, which will allow it to reach 60 mph in less than 100 feet.
