Chevy has just given us our first look at the all-new Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD, and it admittedly makes us a bit intimidated. The truck looks fierce and formidable, ready to take on the toughest of jobs with ease. The truck will be revealed in full at this year’s The Work Truck Show® in Indianapolis, which is North America’s largest work truck event. Luckily, the show is just around the corner: it will take place March 6-9.
At Red Wing Chevrolet, we’re eagerly anticipating the release of the Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD. Although full technical specifications have yet to be released for the new trucks, we have a general idea of what will be offered.
They will be available in regular and crew cab with a range of wheelbases. The Silverado’s brilliant pairing of Duramax diesel engines and Allison transmissions will continue, offering the ideal balance of power, performance, and efficiency. The Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD will also come equipped with various state-of-the-art driver connectivity and driver-assist safety technologies, offering smart entertainment, connectivity, and safety to drivers and passengers alike. As the U.S. vice president of General Motors, Ed Peper, stated, “The Silverado 4500HD/5500HD trucks are the flagship of our full-line commercial truck portfolio and we’ve designed them to be among the best in the industry in maneuverability, serviceability, visibility, quietness and comfort, diesel fuel economy and more.”
We’re sure the new trucks will not disappoint, and if you want to learn more about them, stop into Red Wing Chevrolet.

Winter is one of the best times of the year if you live in the Red Wing area.
We know that the winter in Minnesota is cold and dark, and sometimes all you want to do is stay home—even when you love your job like we do at Red Wing Chevrolet! But winter and Christmas in Minnesota is such a magical time, and with so much to do we can’t help but venture out into the snowy winter wonderland that is our state. Here are some of our favorite Christmas sights to see.
If you’ve never been on a snowmobile, now is the time to try it. The town of Bemidji, which is known for being the first town on the Mississippi River, has two huge wilderness trails perfect for snowmobiling.
Chilly Dogs Sled Dog Trips in Ely
If you generally associate Christmastime with a cozy horse-drawn carriage ride, it may be time to break tradition. This year, opt for a thrilling dog sled ride in Northeast Minnesota instead. It’s an exciting experience that you won’t soon forget!
Bentleyville Tour of Lights in Duluth
No Christmas season is complete without laying eyes on some amazing light displays. A trip to Duluth will be well worth it to see the Bentleyville Tour of Lights, the largest display in the midwest. Bring the whole family to enjoy 3.5 million lights, taking breaks to sip hot chocolate around the fire pit. Trust us, Bentleyville Tour of Lights is one magical holiday experience you don’t want to miss.
Now that the spring weather has finally arrived, outdoor fanatics everywhere are dreaming up their next camping trips. Have you ever turned your vehicle into the ultimate camping tool? This year, try gearing up your truck for spring camping. At Red Wing Chevrolet we have a lot full of Silverados that are perfect for the task.
When you take out your Silverado, you have two great options: sleeping in a tent or sleeping in the bed. If you opt for the traditional tent method, the bed of your Silverado can easily be used to store tubs of food, cooking supplies, bicycles, kayaks, or whatever other gear tickles your fancy. Purchase a canopy ahead of time that you can set up over your bed for the ultimate camping tailgating experience.
If you want to rely only on your Silverado, set up your sleeping area in the spacious bed of the pickup. Devoted truck campers build shelving units and extra storage around their bed space, but this isn’t necessary for a weekend away.
When it’s time to pull up the maps to head home, or to check in with work, the Silverado’s available Wi-Fi hotspot will come in handy. You can also use the Wi-Fi plus the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system to stream music while you gather around the campfire for a perfect, spring evening.
If you’re planning to visit soon or just looking for something to do over the weekend, there are plenty of fun things to do in Rochester, whether you’re with your kids, a group of friends, or just yourself.
Summer is a busy time for Rochester because it’s such an outdoors-oriented place. From visiting nature centers to exploring caves, you’ll never run out of things to do. Go biking in one of Rochester’s over a hundred city parks or go fruit picking at Firefly Berries.
If you’d rather go for something indoor, check out Soccer World’s indoor paintball field, or visit one of several area gyms for swimming and rock climbing. Parents with young children will enjoy a visit to Monkey Junction or Pipsqueaks, two local indoor play areas for children six and under, and the Minnesota Children’s Museum of Rochester.
These are all pretty active, but if you’d rather do something more relaxing, visit the Rochester Art Center that features a series of exhibitions with art from local and international artists, or head to the History Center of Olmsted County for a little local history. Wherever your interests lie, you won’t have trouble finding something fun to do in Rochester!
