New Buick Envision Gets 5-Star Safety Rating

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is a federal agency dedicated to ranking cars based on their safety. Buick has achieved a top five-star safety rating across the lineup for the past two years. The 2017 Buick Envision crossover continues that trend with a top safety score for the model year.

The new Buick Envision earned a top five-star safety rating thanks to its durable design and incredible number of safety technologies. Drivers interested in the Envision will be met with a long list of standard and available features that add up to five cameras, 13 sensors, and peace of mind behind the wheel

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety backs the NHTSA’s rating with one of its own. The crossover had earned the top rating for 2016 and now that’s extended into the current year. The institute named the new Buick Envision a Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with HID headlights and available front crash prevention technologies.

The IIHS requires vehicles to earn Good ratings in all crash tests as well as an Advanced or Superior rating in the front crash prevention test. Vehicles must also earn a Good or Acceptable headlight rating.

We here at Red Wing Chevrolet couldn’t be happier with the Buick Envision’s safety rating!

Safe Driving New Year’s Resolutions

Practicing safe driving habits is something you should do even if it isn’t your New Year’s resolution. Fortunately, those struggling to come up with an achievable resolution could find their best choice is to practice (or kick) a new safe driving habit. Here are a few safe driving New Year’s resolutions suggested by us here at Red Wing Chevrolet. We hope you have a fantastic 2017!

  • Smartphones – Driving while talking or texting is hazardous, even if the road is empty. It only takes a second for road conditions to change, a pedestrian to walk in front of your car, or worse. Put down the phone or, alternatively, use your vehicle’s Bluetooth connectivity so you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
  • Slow Down – Speeding results in a reduced reaction time that could be the difference between life-and-death accidents. Slowing down and driving the speed limit allows drivers more time to react, save on gas by getting better fuel economy, and relax while on the road. Plus, you won’t run the risk of any costly tickets.
  • Efficiency – Being more efficient on the road can save you a whole bundle of money over the course of 2017. Avoid idling, combine trips, make sure your tires are properly inflated, and make sure you slow down!
